World bank team visits UR’s Centres of Excellence

A delegation from the World Bank conducted a half-day visit to the university of Rwanda’s centres of excellence to assess the achievements experiences and success stories. The Vice Chancellor Prof Cotton officially opened the meeting.

ACE-ESD will partner with Italian Universities and private sector to support the development of 2 renewable mini-grids in Rwanda.

Italian Interuniversity Centre of Research on Sustainable Development (CIRPS) has strengthen a partnership with ACE-ESD on a joint technical assistance for the development of 2 photovoltaic-hybrid mini-grids in Rwanda.

Two staff from ACEESD visit Powerhouse Energy Campus’ Smart Village Microgrid Lab at CSU Energy Institute

The partnership with CSU Energy institute has brought Aphrodis Nduwamungu, a research laboratory engineer, and Geoffrey Gasore, a post doctorate lecturer in electrical department from the ACEESD to Fort Collins and CSU’s Powerhouse Energy Campus. Now, Nduwamungu and Gasore has ended their month-long visit in which they have learn from researchers and in-house experts about how to build, deploy, test and troubleshoot microgrid systems.

Microgrids are of great interest to Rwanda because only about 40 percent of the country is electrified.

The second batch of 16 PhD students of ACE-ESD have presented their research proposal

The second batch of 16 PhD students of ACE-ESD have presented their research proposal from 28th May to 1st June 2018.

Defense Committee was composed by local, regional and international professors (student’s supervisors), we were pleased to have also same of the professor through SKYPE as always, for them to follow the presentation of their students and give them comments.

ACE-ESD training on Organic Semiconducting Materials

Around 60 African from different institution (Public or Private institution) participated here in Kigali (university of Rwanda CST) on a training for 5 days organized by the African Centre of Excellence in Energy for Sustainable Development (ACE-ESD). The focus was to motivate Regional Entrepreneurs and Students to understand more about Organic Semiconducting Materials for Photovoltaic and Other Optoelectronic Applications: Synthesis and Structure-Property Relationships.
