UniPod Rwanda inauguration marks a milestone at UR Innovation Week 2023

 

Gaspard Twagirayezu, the Minister of Education on Friday November 10, inaugurated a University Innovation Pod (UNIPOD), a United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) funded initiative, aimed at promoting innovation, inter-disciplinary research and nurture the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs in the University.

GIIH’s best innovative business startups get funding for their implementation

After a year-long business incubation program at UR’s Grid Innovation and Incubation Hub, five innovators whose innovations were found promising were on 19th May, funded to implement their innovations. This is the second cohort of GIIH’s Business and Incubation Program.

A delegation from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) visited ACE-ESD

On 19th January 2023, a delegation from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in a visit to University of Rwanda, paid a visit to the African Centre of Excellence in Energy for Sustainable Development (ACE-ESD). Their visit was in the framework of the signed partnership agreement with UR in different academic areas.

At the Centre, the delegation toured the High E tech Smartgrid Laboratory and got briefed on how it is facilitating Master’s students in different energy programs the Centre offers before getting out for real energy business.

Premier urges graduates to be agents of positive change by upholding ethical values

The Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Edouard Ngirente challenged UR graduates to impact and transform lives in their respective communities. He said becoming the agents of positive change by upholding the ethical values acquired from University should be top among their ambitions. The Prime Minister said this Friday 18th November 2022 during UR 8th graduation ceremony which took place in Nyagatare District, Eastern Province.

Total Energies moves to provide expertise to energy professionals to curb renewable energy challenges in Rwanda

Total Energies, a well-renowned company specializing in renewable energy is set to provide expertise and skills to Rwandan energy professionals to improve the energy sector in Rwanda. This was highlighted during a kickoff ceremony of a three-day series of lectures on renewable energy at the African Centre of Excellence in Energy for Sustainable Development (ACE-ESD).

ACE-ESD partners with Carnegie Mellon University to host the IEEE Conference

From 22nd to 26th August, Rwanda hosted the IEEE PES/IAS Power Africa Conference 2022. The conference took place in Kigali with participant
s from across Africa and the world to explore energy and electric power infrastructure developments in Africa.

Under the theme, “Convergence of National and Off-Grid Systems: Roles of Renewables, Productive Use, and Electric Mobility”, the conference highlighted Africa’s electric mobility initiatives and featured keynote and panel sessions and its energy ecosystem were on display in exhibitions, panels and academic paper presentations.
