The University of Rwanda, through the African Centre of Excellence in Energy for Sustainable Development (ACE-ESD) at the College of Science and Technology, offers master’s programmes in Energy for Sustainable Development:

  • Master of Science in Renewable Energy
  • Master of Science in Electrical Power Systems
  • Master of Science in Energy Economics

Admission criteria

Master of Science in Electrical Power Systems

Applicants need a Bachelor's degree with at least second-class upper division (or cumulative average not less than 70%) in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field. Holders of second-class lower division with at least two years of relevant work experience may apply. Sufficient English proficiency is required for master's-level coursework and research.

Master of Science in Renewable Energy

Applicants need a Bachelor's degree with at least second-class upper division (or cumulative average not less than 70%) in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field. Holders of second-class lower division with at least two years of relevant work experience may apply. Sufficient English proficiency is required for master's-level coursework and research.

Master of Science in Energy Economics

Applicants need a Bachelor's degree with at least second-class upper division (or cumulative average not less than 70%) in Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Engineering, Agricultural Economics, Quantitative Economics, Finance, or related fields. Holders of second-class lower division with at least two years of relevant work experience may apply. Sufficient English proficiency is required for master's-level coursework and research.
