A regional cohort in energy
Through the ACE II partnership, ACE-ESD has built a diverse community of 636 students and trainees engaged in MSc and PhD programmes, research, and specialist short courses at the University of Rwanda.
Participants come from Rwanda and partner institutions across Eastern and Southern Africa, strengthening the critical mass of expertise needed for energy access, power systems, and energy economics on the continent.

Building capacity across Africa
ACE-ESD is expected to strengthen human capital across the Eastern and Southern Africa region through the University of Rwanda, College of Science and Technology—training engineers, economists, and policymakers who can support national utilities, regulators, universities, and the private sector.
Student and trainee origins span multiple countries in the sub-region, reflecting the centre’s role as a hub for postgraduate education under the World Bank ACE II initiative.
