Preparation of exchange of Program Between The ACE-ESD under University of Rwanda, the University of Pisa(UNIPI) and CIRPS (Interuniversity Research Center for Sustainable Development)

The collaboration between the University of Pisa will focus on the topics of engineering for sustainable development and renewable energies; as such it will involve mainly:

  • For UniPi, the Department of Energy, Systems, Territory and Construction Engineering (DESTEC) of the School of Engineering
  • For University of Rwanda, the College of Science and Technology of the University of Rwanda, and have the Africa Centre of Excellence in Energy for Sustainable Development (ACE-ESD) as the main actor.

WHEREAS Unipi is a public institution boasting twenty departments, with high level research centres in the sectors of agriculture, astrophysics, computer science, engineering, medicine and veterinary medicine. Furthermore, the University has close relations with the Pisan Institutes of the National Board of Research, with many cultural institutions of national and international importance, and with industry, especially that of information technology, which went through a phase of rapid expansion in Pisa during the nineteen sixties and seventies.

The collaboration between the CIRPS will focus on the topics of engineering for sustainable development and renewable energies; as such it will involve mainly the College of Science and Technology of the University of Rwanda, and have the Africa Centre of Excellence in Energy for Sustainable Development (ACE-ESD) as the main actor.

WHEREAS CIRPS is the Interuniversity Research Center for Sustainable Development: an interuniversity research center which reunites experts in sustainable development and Science of Sustainability. More than 100 academics, researchers and technicians take part at the activities of the Center as Ordinary Member, since they belong at one of the 11 Italian universities that subscribed its establishing convention. Other 170 are Associate Members, academics from other 14 adjunct universities or high-profile experts not belonging to academia.
