He taught courses: Advanced Power Electronics, Power Systems, FACTS & HVDC, Modeling & Analysis of Electrical Machines, Renewable Energy Sources, Electric Drives, and Advanced Electrical Network Theory. He is also a Principal Investigator of a funded project on Design and fabrication of a lightweight range extended Electric Vehicle. Since 2018, Dr.ir. Mulugeta is working with University of Rwanda, CST-ACE-ESD where he is teaching PG courses and advising thesis students.
His Research Interests Include: Design of Power Electronic Converters & their Applications to Large-Scale Power Systems, Development of Electric and Hybrid Electric Vehicles & their Charging Systems, Design & Control of Grid Connected RES Systems, Modeling & Analysis of Electrical Machines and Drive Systems
PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Power Engineering at Defence University-Ethiopia, where he has been since 2001. From 2018 to 2020, he served as Dean for Research and Technology Transfer. From 2005 to 2011 he served as Head, Department of Electrical Power Engineering. He received his PhD from Ghent University (Belgium) in Power Electronic Requirements for Ranged Extended Electric Vehicles. He got his M.Tech (Power System & Drives) and B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, both from AMU, India.
